After spending way too much time and effort this season on our Vacuflush toilet system this season, I had yet another issue that required some more cursing and farting around. Not to mention a good deal of frustration and time.
This time it was a cranky vacuum pump, cycling on and off for no apparent reason. No leaks, no bowl water loss, no obstructions, no duck bill valves needing replacement - although new duck bills is ultimately what was causing the pump to work incorrectly!
So, here is another in the series of toilet / holding tank / Vacuflush upgrades, repairs and FUN! As I discovered a clue to my resolution right here on this forum, I am sharing this video with you guys before it goes 'Live' on my YouTube Channel. My way of saying thanks for all the good help I've been able to find & use through this forum.
I hope my vids might be able to help others in the future!! Thanks again guys :)

My 1998 400 Sundancer has a "vacuum generator" and to my knowledge does not have the vacuum tank with the adjusment you show in the video. However, I have the same issue with the vacuum device coming on every 15-20 minutes. I have checked all connections (I even wrapped them with plumbing tape) and repalced the duckbills (all 4). The toilet also holds a water level. My thoughts have been leaning toward the plunger next, but wasn't sure. Any other advice?

Not sure what you mean by 'plunger'??

The accordian looking device that is inside the housing and creates the vacuum. Excellent video by the way.

That's called the bellows. Yes, that can become brittle & crack after many years. As your boat is similar vintage, I'd have a look at that if you've exhausted all other possibilities. Apart from accessibility challenges on our Sedan, tearing apart the pump is straightforward and relatively easy. Bellows in this part of the world is about a hundred bucks. Make sure you also order a new O ring if you ever do the job.

Glad you liked the video. I figured, I was down there anyway, so might as well share my pain ;-)

Cheers, Paul.

Great video Paul. I took note of the system hoses you replaced under the guest bunk, and even watched a separate video you posted on changing the guest head hose. Then this Saturday I noticed my bilge kept accumulating what I thought was water. Nope! The pump out hose between the deck and the holding tank was leaking. Just curious if you have replaced that section of hose? I ended up being my weekend activity.....

No I haven't - yet! I have two hoses yet to replace, the pump out line from the new tank (I have a a series of videos on that project on my YouTube Channel), as well as the line from the Y-Valve back to the tank. After doing sooooooooooooooo much work on the system this season, I decided to leave that until the beginning of next season, probably right before re-launch. Look for videos of same in 2015 :)
