Exchanging gifts - have you stopped?

We still exchange gifts, even though our kids are grown. My parents did the same until my Dad died. My Mom still gives the kids and grandkids checks every year. A couple years ago I gave my wife the engagement/wedding ring set I couldn't afford when we got married. If I told her that I was buying a new set, she would have said no. But springing it on her at Christmas left her speechless. This year our gift was an all expenses paid trip to Scottsdale over Christmas. I guess my kids thought their presence was their gift to us (even though it was their idea along with their cousins), because they didn't get us anything :D, Not that we actually expected anything.

Actually, my son and dil gave us the best gift ever, informing us that we will be grandparents this summer!

How you like Scottsdale? My son works in Scottsdale, lives in Tempe. He loves it. Bought dirt bike, says in a short drive he can ride the desert mountains and not see another person all day.

I've been to Scottsdale many times and love it. There are hiking/biking trails everywhere. There are also a ton of great restaurants and entertainment. It's an expensive place though.

Well, Scottsdale is my hometown. I grew up riding horses and dirt bikes here in what are now some pretty exclusive neighborhoods. High Density has become a concern, but it is still a great place to live.

Well my wife did the "let's not get anything for each other this year" so I listened...I'm a dumbass....
Hahaha I heard the same thing, but after 41 years I learned.

Mine would not pull that switch. I’m very literal, if you tell me don’t buy anything you ain’t getting anything. I dont play those games.

Years ago when we still exchanged gifts my wife said she wanted a new iron. Sooo I went a step farther and got her a top of the line iron AND a new ironing board. What a farking idiot! That was a long cold winter! I bought a nice peice of jewelry as a makeup gift but it was too late.
She got me back the next year with a shovel - that was about the end of our gift giving. It was all in somewhat good fun.

I gave the admiral a lawn mower last year and she banged me the same way she did the year before when I gave her a new wedding set with a big ass diamond. Go figure.

You’re more thoughtful than me. I would have given her a tire iron.
