Hi all,

2006 340 with 8.1 Horizon V-Drives. Freshwater only (Lake Michigan).

I noticed an air leak (I believe only air) at what looks to be a gasket on the bottom of the elbow. Is there a spacer between the elbow and riser that would have a gasket that could leak air? Is this common? There was no moisture that I could tell, and no rust.

It was not a significant leak, but the engine was at idle. The only reason I found it was inspecting the oil filter after an oil change.

Forgive me if the terms are incorrect - I'm still getting my head wrapped around the exaust system on this thing!!

Thanks,

JMD

feeling air escape is a sign of a leaking exaust gasket. If you have the newest dry joint system you would see no water from that area ,only exaust.
If you also have riser extentions/spacers be aware there are 2 different gaskets and you MUST install the new gaskets the same way or you will overheat.
