Need some help! Just purchased two new tachs for my 2002 320DA from FP Marine. They said they were exact replacements but they are not. The wiring connections are completely different. Original tachs have a 6-pin harness (only use 4 wires/pins). Can anyone tell me what the different color wires are? I have a black, blue, purple, and gray/red). My new tachs have terminal posts in the back versus a plug. The terminal posts are labeled IGN (ignition), GND (ground), SEND, LT (lamp). Does anyone have a clue as to what color wire goes where?

Thanks!

Black wire to GND (ground), Blue wire to LT (light, top term), Purple wire to ING (ignition), Grey/Red wire to SEND (signal).

It's a bit different than mine but through process of elimination the above should be correct. You can follow the wires to confirm. Purple is usually from the ignition switch to all gauges, this powers the gauges when you turn the key to "ON"; blue is usually all instrument lights, Black is always ground and that leaves grey/red as the signal coming from the coil or the electronic ignition. You should be good with this.

That is awesome! Glad I could help.

You question was really familiar to me as I am restoring/updating a 1985 Cobalt and I just completed the installation of a new instrument panel using all new gauges and wiring harness. The color codes were fresh in my mind.
