:smt001 VERY deep.

Good editing on their part. My cousin is in film and TV, and have done similar kinds of polling. You forget, they ask quite a lot of kids before they get the responses they want. It's a full day of hundreds of interviews to find the 3 or 4 gems that make airtime.

Just my experience/.02

That's probably true, but some of the gems are in professions you'd expect a bit more from than that. (maybe the issue is I expect to much from them?)

Oh absolutely. In college, there were these 3 girls, best of friends. They were going to be teachers, and graduated the year after me.

They didnt know who Huck Finn was. :smt100

I know my share of young dolts as well, but I also think as we go from one generation to the next in age, we look upon the next generation and youth and compare them to our "wisdom" and dont give them the credit they deserve.

I think voting should be like owning stock.. the more shares you have in a company, the more your vote counts... I think the more taxes you pay, the more your vote should count... and make it cumulative so that the older you get, the more your vote counts...

I like that.

The problem with that is the Hollywood a-holes like
Janeane Garofalo would benefit.

Great idea.

While we're at it, why not a full public audit of every Congressman and Senator every year they are in office, and for four years after they leave office? Think they might change a few of their votes?

Yeah, that's how corperate voting goes. You vote your "shares". Now THAT is an effective system.

Pretty soon you will be seeing ballots that look like your proxy statements -> In some cases you have to fill out a form to recieve the full text of the questions you are supposed to be voting upon. Or find that a 401K manager (or mutual fund manager) actually has the voting rights.

Conniving individuals will find ways to game any system.
