to Pelosi....

"The CIA is always lying to us" she says.

How did she get to where she is?

I just listened to that fool on CNN in my truck on the way home from work, They think if they keep denying something we will believe them, unfortunately their Wright. :smt013

term limits.......we need them for all politicians....period.

+1

the entire concept of Public Service has been so grosly misconstrued and lost from what the "founders" of our Constitution intended. The concept was for a "citizen legislature" not career politicians.

" As every freeman, to preserve his independence, ought to have some profession, calling, trade, or farm, whereby he may honestly subsist, there can be no necesity for, nor use in, establishing offices for profit;...... wherefore, whenever an office, through increase of fees of otherwise, becomes so profitable, as to occasion many to apply for it, the profits ought to be lessened by the legislature" Ben Franklin...

sfergson,

We already have term limits (2 yrs, 4 yrs, 6 yrs). The trouble is that we keep electing these boobs to additional terms.

not to start a wizzing contest here. I don't think our founding fathers ever envisioned us re-electing a complete idiot back into office. Additionally, why would you want to term limit someone that is absolutely competent?

the onus for "term limits" rests squarely on our shoulders. That's our obligation for self governance (remember "we get the government we deserve"? - can't remember who said it). no elected official will enact legislation to end their own sweet heart deal. would you?

I've never seen such a bunch of stooges in Washington in my whole life...And thats sayin something.

Can you please put a D.C. behind your Washington.
Yes we have our own fools out here but....not as many.

I think one of our biggest problems are people who vote without being educated and informed of the politicians past and future plans. There were so many women supports of Hilary just because she was a women. There were so many black supports of Obama just because he was black. I seriously think you shouldn't be allowed to vote in this country unless you can answer (for example) 5 basic questions. Force people to be educated about what they are doing. I think Jay Leno proved this once before by hitting the streets and asking young kids (college age) who the vice president was. It was astonishing to hear the answers.

Ghuskin; yes I would govern with the interest of the constituents that elected me in mind as well as the long term welfare of the Nation. My personal interests would need to be set aside other than as I ride the fortune of the country, I'm sorry that you see your self less capable of dividing yourself from your duty, perhasp that is the heart of the sickness in our nation, widespread self obcession with greed and power over the survival of our form of government and society.

Ben Franklin was fully aware of the reasons or the fall of the Roman Republic as it slipped in to dictatorship and finally to dust. It was just such pitiful self interest a you've expoused and defended.

Term limits just make sense as it is become the peoples best defense against corruption and self interested dealing of and by the elected officials. What they say to get elected is corrupt as they have no intention on fulfilling any of it as promised.

Re read the following as see the wisdom that Ben had .. and nested in it his fear for the health of our nations:

" As every freeman, to preserve his independence, ought to have some profession, calling, trade, or farm, whereby he may honestly subsist, there can be no necessity for, nor use in, establishing offices for profit;...... wherefore, whenever an office, through increase of fees of otherwise, becomes so profitable, as to occasion many to apply for it, the profits ought to be lessened by the legislature" Ben Franklin...

All of the founders feared the greed of the people and their elected officials being willing to feed their stock with the neighbors grass.

Thus, the original Constitution required that to vote one had to be 21 years of age, that was middle aged in those times and hence some life experience, AND have financial means as evidenced by owning land, (having a stake in the welfare of the nation and an aversion to un necessary taxation). These guys were savvy, they new the human heart very well and had all too many lessons from history to give them grave cause for the survivability of a Republic where the elected could rob the public coffers to spread largess on to the the electorate and BUY votes and POWER with the Electorates own money. They understood greed and man's willingness to sell himself out for scraps.

Ghuskin, Stuff the party politics and your hatred of GWB for a minute and just look at what is happening to us. To spend like this government is spending we are now having to borrow 1/2 of every dollar, soon to be 60% and finally 80%. Does this sound like a smart idea? If it was for our security that might be one thing, but to create a socialist state ... by spending the nation into the oblivion and rank us as a debtor worse than a third world country is simply foolish of us to let them. And of course the electorate loves it, they are getting manna from heaven right?

Pilosi is at the epicenter of one of the most irresponsible governments ever sent to Washington. GWB is gone and yes he was spendy but principally for national security. This regime is making the deficit so tragically worse, we can not survive as a capitalist country in this path. Soon, all wealth will HAVE TO BE taxed away and your boat right with it. You defend a radical change in life as we know it ... "the right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness." is being traded for economic slavery to a ruling class of elected officials.

And we have to be mindful, this government is just winding up their pitch ... and WOW is it going to be a curve ball, low and inside.

And so you know, it was the Roman Emperor Claudius that said, "we get the government we deserve", he was the last Emperor that attempted to maintain the semblence of the Republic with a active Senate, and was also the father Nero ...

Those that do not know and respect histroy are doomed to repeat it.

Chad,

I am in no way defending the self-interest of our elected officials. I'm just pointing out human nature.

It is a rare breed that can overlook ones own imterest for that of the greater good. If I were in that position, I would govern much like you indicated.

I feel that our downfall was when we allowed these numnuts to be full time legislators with lifetime benefits.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with what our country has become, and will become if we continue down the current path.

Ghuskin, my appologies for any affront. Get your pitch fork my friend and sharpen the tips ... we'll be using them soon I fear ....

Chad,

We need a serious house cleaning in D.C.

No need for apologies. I may have inferred that I was defending that position, and that would have been my fault.

I'm so furious that we've become a nation of p.c. whiners.

Now we are getting into a trade war with Canada? These genius's apparently failed history. These tactics have been tried in the past (remember the "great depression"?), yet they think they can do it better? Jackasses, all of them!!!

+infinity, this has been my mantra for years now. Thus why I no longer vote (we all had this argument before in another thread).

I am disenfranchised with the way we have become a nation of sheep, herded from one election to the next with lackluster choices of people to "lead" us.

Sad.

I think I saw that show... they couldn't even tell him who was running... it was pretty sad. Actually, most of those Jay-Walking videos are a pretty sad tale of the results of our current school systems and folks knowledge of current affairs and history.

Good editing on their part. My cousin is in film and TV, and have done similar kinds of polling. You forget, they ask quite a lot of kids before they get the responses they want. It's a full day of hundreds of interviews to find the 3 or 4 gems that make airtime.

Im on a wakeboarding site, and Ill tell you this: A very vast majority of the "kids" on that site are incredibly bright. Ill even go so far as to say I see WAY less spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors on there than I do on here, and better cohesion of thought when discussing subject such as politics.

Just my experience/.02
