Christmas in July is on the wkd of the 25th, but as you know, PIB is NEVER boring. X-Mas in July is really just a typical crazy wkd with colored lights.
We went to Kelley's a week ago Saturday. The marinas were empty, as we expected, but the bars were full. Who knew you that you didn't have to take you OWN boat to the islands?

MM - Catawba Island has Aquapalooza scheduled for Kelley's Cove on July 26. Last years event was moved to the SeaWay Marine (SE side of Keley's) because of high winds. Ended up being an enjoyable day on the island. MM also has several Get-a-ways sheduled. Check their website or give them a call for details.
As Roller Coastr stated, any weekend at the bay is usually exciting. Kelley's Island comes in a close second.
Always plenty to do in the area.

Is a 185 to small for lake Erie? we were thinking about taking a rod trip one weekend. We've stayed at East harbor SP campground two years ago and I thought it had a boat ramp. We took the ferry to PIB and had some really great fish. So we would stay around Kellys IS and the PIB area. Also, is it mandatory to have a marine radio? Thanks

I don't know if it is Mandatory to have a marine radio but there is way too much trouble you can get in on Lake Erie not to have one. I have a backup handheld that i keep on the boat that would serve your needs well. West Marine brand less than 100 dollars. If you do go out pick a calm day when there is a favorable forecast with no chance of any weather kicking up. That lake can turn real ugly real fast. I would also recommend getting a chart of the Western Basin. As long as you are smart about the weather and use common sense you will be fine. If you have a bow cover use it.

Thanks for the quick response. We do have a bow cover and I was thinking about buying a radio as we were also thinking about going down the Ohio river.
