Ethanol hurting the fuel pump?

My 210 select recently gave me fits and would not start after running for a while. Came to find out it is the fuel pump. Unfortunately the motor has to be pulled to get to it. Could ethanol hurt the pump? I think the damage was done last winter. I used stabil in it. However I see now where they have stabil with ethanol treatment.

some will say no but I had the same problem with another boat and i swear it was the ethanol
