Essex CT Deep River

Possibly planning a trip down there this weekend. I was going to use the Bladwin Bridge ramp and tour around. I have read things about Essex and Deep River areas being scenic and even having public docks.
Also hear Hamburg cove is a cool gunkhole.
Any one around this area and have any suggestions?

Deep River town landing, which can be reached from River Rd. in Deep River (the junc. of Rt. 154 & Rt. 80) or from Kirkland St. (Main. St. & The Piano Works Condos) on the west bank of the CT River. The landing is also the dock for a local Riverboat and the Essex Steam train has a depot there. Hamburg Cove is between Deep River and Essex on the East side of the river. Last few weekends have been crowded. So get there early. We are planning on going there this weekend but not sure which day.

Hamburg Cove is a place where many go to anchor out during the day and it can be quite crowded on the weekends.

The comment about Piano Works Condominium reminds me of a history for this town that many forget. The chief product of the factories in town were piano keys made from imported ivory bought by ship. You would do well to check out the history here, it is chock full.

Great Bank robbery story as well at what now is Citizens Bank. The robber is buried in the cemetery. The scatter gun that put him there hangs in the bank waiting area.
