Engine won't idel

Took my new to me boat out this weekend. Problem I'm having is it won't idel. When I put the throttle in idel it slowly sputters then dies. It's the 3.0 Mercrucier.
It runs great though, very smooth. I'm running it at about 9000 feet and someone said it might need high altitude jets? Bought the boat in Denver.
Anyone have any ideas?

this is a very difficult question to answer because there are many things that affect the idle......i would start with a 'complete' tune-up if it has been a while since the last one or if you don't know when the last one was done, especially since this is a new boat to you....a good tune-up can sometimes fix a lot of running and idleing issues....if you still have issues after a tune-up post back and the collective knowledge of the forum can help you reolve them...
