I have a 1988 268 sea ray. we put a new 454 in it and after the outdrive was rebuilt it will over heat every time we take it up over 2800 rpm. We can run all day at 2000 rpm and it will never over heat.........help We have a Alpha one gen II out drive (new) 12 months ago.
Engine overheats only when boat runs at 2800 rpm or higher

Check the water pump impeller, if it's missing pieces it won't give enough water at higher rpms. Also, check your hoses for kinks.
