Hi All, The engine hatch on my 250 slx 2008 model doesn't close properly - starboard side is in a higher position when closed than portside. I changed the actuator a couple of weeks ago but i bought same size and ref as the original one. Maybe i never really noticed this before.
The actuator is on starboard side so it looks like this is the problem - doesn't go down enough ?
Anyone noticed the same on his 250 slx ?

Remove one side of actuator and rest to the side, then close the lid without it attached and see if it sits down properly. If so than you have narrowed down the problem.

Check for obstructions.

Disconnect actuator and close - does it still close the same?

Have you tried continuing to hold the down button for a few more seconds to see it pulls that side down?

I had the SAME problem. Drove me nuts.
Same boat as you too

The stainless bracket that bolts to the hatch rests on the top of the actuator when closed. Look on your old actuator, might even see the rub marks. I unbolted the stainless bracket and cut 3/4” or so off of it and reinstalled. Bingo flat hatch
