Engine dies and has to wait for around 10 min to restart

I hate to admit it. . .but that happened to my car not too long ago. I was sucking fumes. . .and the engine died CRAP. But after 1 minute. . . the car restarted. . .and went one mile. CRAP. Restarted. . .Gas station found within 1 mile. Refueled. No more issue.

My boat gas gauge is off by about . . .30%. At the 1/4 mark, I have 50% fuel remaining. Very disconcerting. I now rely on "engine run time" as my primary indicator (but I still refuel when I see the gauge at 25%. . .. )

The 1/4 full thing sure sounds like a pick up problem or I agree possibly a lack of fuel. A friend of mine had similiar symptoms with his 4.3. He eventually found some rubbery junk in the tank that would get around he pickup and restrict fuel flow.

Dave, The fuel pump cycles when you turn on the key then stops, It dosent keep cycling. As far as the fuel level according to the guage i am going off what the guage says. Im very paranoid about running out of fuel so the quarter tank is usually just outside of the harbor. Im almost certain there is fuel in it as after a few minutes it starts right up.

Well, so far Theres only one Gal that fills up my boat but im allways looking for more! Just kidding. Im not sure. i never really looked. i just pump till it stops and cuss alot about the price.

It is supposed to do that. The fuel pump is commanded by the EFI processor and is switched by a relay. If the EFI does not sense engine start after a few seconds, it shuts down the pump as a safety measure.

Look for a restriction in fuel flow. Don't know if your boat has an anti siphon valve or a fuel line solenoid, but you should check whichever you have for restriction. Also, change the fuel filter. Check for hot spot around the fuel system. Is the fuel old? (More than a week or two?) Old fuel may have vapor pressure problems that is vapor locking the system.

BTW, if the engine stops when running above idle speed, it's not the IAC.
