So over the past week I've been ordering my parts. 2 fox marine engine gateway adapters wires plugs t's and a mfd that offers engine date displays.
My list
2 fox marine engine gateways
2 nmea2000 t connectors
30 ft of N2k wire
2 N2k drop cables
1 N2k starter kit with power node
1 raymarine e97 mfd
About 5 hours for instalation
I cannot say how happy I am that I did this. I now have digital readouts of rpm, engine temp, fuel flow, instant mpg, and much much more all without the cutting of fuel lines very expensive computer upgrades and so on.
My total price for everything above was just under 1800 but that's worth my decision to but a pricey mfd. Depending on how simple you want to go it could be much cheaper.
Also the gateways are blue tooth compatible
You can hook the gateways up to any blue tooth (all apple products and android app coming soon) you can view engine diagnostic codes total engine hours and so much more. Very awesome product. .
Probably the best engine data and diagnostic product to hit the market for pre SmartCraft engines.

Sorry ran out of time to finish my story.
Anyway
Just after installing the gateways I went for a ride. To test everything. My normal cruise using my factory guages (only a year old) is 3450 doing around 25mph so I used the new digital guages to set at 3450. Doing so I was at 27 mph burning just over 32gph. At this point my factory guages are reading 3600. This shows you how far off the factory guages are. I slowed up to 3250 giving me 25mph at just under 30gph. So now I'm cruising with less stress on the motors getting the same efficiency. Second thing I noticed was the coolant temp. Guages at cruise read 15 port 170 star. Digital guage reads 160 port 159 star. Really just goes to show how far off the analog setup really is.
Sorry I'm excited about having it so I just thought I would share.

What year 330 EC is that? I have a 1999 380 DA that I'm thinking of adding this to. I have a Garmin 7212 mfd so I think I'm good for the display. I was also thinking of Garmin fuel flow sensors, but this would give me everything.

Nice work Jonathan!!!

I've been looking for something exactly like this. I'm getting ready to start replacing / upgrading electronic on the new boat and I would love to be able to see engine data and set alarm points.

I'm going to do the same thing to our 98 with EFI's. We're going to start doing a lot of traveling, so even just a few gph less will add up.

Can you grab any pictures of the display with the engine info up? I have an a78 MFD so I'm curious how much info you can get on one screen.

Here a few crappyout shots but you can get alot of info on one screen. The middle picture is a split screen between charts and engine data.http://s870.photobucket.com/user/xp...160522_160602_zpsznpjgfc8.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

If your thinking of fuel flow meters and already have the garmin mfd this is the absolute way too go.

So this fox engine gateways are only for EFI I see. I want to do the switch to digital on my vessel as well but it's going to be a tad tougher. Good job though!!

Are you carbed fuel injected or mpi? If you have fuel injection or mpi just simply unbolt your engine computer (don't even disconnect the wires) look on the back there is a series of numbers and codes. Match them to codes on the fox marine website and that's the gateway you will use.
Unfortunately if your carbed these will not work

Yes carbed . I found noland rs11 which will do the same thing. BUT with a baby due in a little over a month in forbade to spend money.

The rs11 system looks interesting. That's pulling signal of the actual sensors that are attached to the motor. So your turning anologe signal into digital signal. That's pretty cool to
The unit I have installed actually plus right into your engine computer and gives exact numbers and you can run engine diagnostics and adjust engine parameters such as idle rpm timing and so on. But for a carbed engine that's a home run
Babies arnt expensive is only when they get older they stay getting expensive. Unless your paying child support

Do you have a diagram of how you did this? I have a New Raymarine setup, and I would like to add this eventually...

I would love to do Fox Marine gateway but they don't yet make one for the Motorola 555 ECM/PCMs on my two engines. Last year they expected to have it this year, but lately Allen has stopped responding to my inquiries.
