Engine Cover for 1997 185 Bowrider

I just received my new fiberglass engine cover that I ordered on Ebay. It looks great and I think this is the best solution to the cracked cover.
If you have a different model/year and want to see if this cover will fit, go to SeaRay's website and look up the parts breakdown for your boat (or your dealer can do this for you) to get the engine cover part number. The part number for the 1997 185 engine cover is 790-832. I have heard that the same part number is used for the 195 and the 210 but it may also be used for others.

I ordered mine the other week for my 1997 210, same part number. should receive it this week, I can't wait to see it.

Can one of you guys that have bought the new fiberglass engine cover off ebay, or anywhere else please give me some info on where i can purchase one as well? Thanks !!!

I just checked on Ebay and the cover is there -- item no 150579645483 -- but the price is much higher. Now it's $725 plus $125 shipping.

If you know a good fiberglass shop, you may be able to get it made.

Ordered mine from eBay and got. Installed it and it works great. Drilled holes for hardware and it's like new. Anybody know where I can get a hole saw big enough for a drink holder?

hi
I have a 1997 sea ray 185 bow rider and I had the same problem(craking engine cover). I had a fiberglass company make a mold from my old cover and have made copies out of fiberglass instead of PVC. Each new cover will run about $650.00 plus shipping. The new covers will not have the padding inside as the old pvc had but looks great. You need to save all the hardware and use it again. I can send you photos of the new cover.
I would like to buy one for $650 how much is shipping to Georgia?

I just received one of the fiberglass covers for sale on ebay for my 190 BR and it fits great. The fiberglass is thicker and stronger that the original ABS plastic Sea Ray used. My hinges were corroded so I bought stainless hatch hinges from Attwood. I spread the hinges farther apart than where the original hinges so the sides of the cover would carry more of the load. I also used stainless machine screws and a 3"X5" aluminum plate 3/8" thick on the inside for additional reinforcement. I used hole measurements from the hinges to locate the holes in the aluminum hole and drilled the holes on a drill press. I then clamped the aluminum plate on the front of the engine cover using it for a guide plate to drill through the fiberglass. Everything lined up great and I used stainless nuts with nylon locking feature behind the aluminum plates.

I found a solution that helped a little. My cowling was cracked so bad that each time I used the boat I had to scrape off the sticky matter that had seeped out of the cracks.
I removed the seeping material using a heat gun and paper towels. I then sealed the cracks using a hot glue gun. The cracks are still visible but the seeping has been stopped for over a year. The heat gun can be purchased at Harbor Freight and the hot glue gun can be purchased at Hobby Lobby.
