engine alarm above 1600 rpms 190 bow rider

our 1998 190 Sea Ray bow rider Mercruser inboard alarm sounds when we go over 1600RPM. Idle or idle speed is fine. Any thoughts

What are the gauges telling you? Hot, oil pressure? Look under the hood and see if you see anything obvious. I would not let that alarm go to long without having a mechanic go over it. Boats can get very expensive fast.

All guages were normal and oil and transmission fluids were normal.

looks like you have multiple boats! Motor and drive might be helpful for people trying to help you. It would be best to put both in your signature line.

Is the problem persistant or isolated to one instance? ie was something blocking the intake (garbage/grocery bag)
