While my marina was replacing my water hose, they had to remove part of the power steering assembly to get a bolt out. They put it all back together, and while I even had them do a fluid check and the first start for me to check for leaks, they overlooked the power steering pump being dry. Its all a no wake zone from the lift to my slip, so I didn't notice not having power steering until we went for a brief cruise over the weekend. I thought something may have been stuck or sticking, until I got backed in and secured in my slip and checked the power steering reservoir. No fluid. Might have been a drop or two on the dipstick, but any measurable amount.
Marina is closed Mondays, and when I called today they said fill it up and check for leaks. It'll be Saturday before I'm back at the boat, but I'm assuming just regular PS fluid and nothing fancy like the Lucas Oil fluid. Did running it low/out of fluid damage it? It was VERY hard to steer at speed.
