The wife and I packed up and went to the boat for the first time this year (together).
I'm selling the boat to move up to a 280DA but we thought we'd enjoy the perfect weather and conditions on the Chesapeake.

Turned the key and the familiar Smartcraft beep did not sound. The engine turned over with no apparent spark. Panic set in. The prospective buyer could call at anytime for his test ride and my 51 hour old boat was dead.

I checked what little I know too and found nothing. Then what do you know she starts.
Nervously we pull away from the dock and 100 yards later she dies. She did start right up and we headed to the Marinemax dealer 30 minutes away. I called by phone and asked the service manager to wait for me. We arrived without further problems.
The manager, Ryan after hearing the symptoms immediately checked the cord connected kill switch and found it was partially pulled. A great relief set over me but I must say when this 1 yr. old boat did this I thought is this what I bought the new boat for?

Just glad the potential buyer wasn't with me to kill any deal we might do.

This is an interesting and tricky one. Glad it turned out fine. I've had similar moment when my wife left the throttle not completely in nutral. It took me a good 10 min. to realize what was the issue. But, those 10 min. felt veeeery long and unpleasant.

Good luck with the sale,
Alex.

Don't feel embarrassed, you've read my posts. Sounds like we're in good company. Biggest thing is to remember, for the next time.

Looking at that pic, I can only imagine that water must be cold. Yes?
Good luck with your upgrade. I never understood the crappy swim platform
on the newer 240's..yuk!

I didn’t notice the boat in the picture. I was enjoying the…………scenery. LOL

Gee Doug, at 6:48 Sunday morning you are pervin Gredmers Admiral. You can't do that. At CSR we're all one big family, that makes her like your sister.

One of the reasons we're moving up is the lack of suntanning space on the 240. With the 2 seats where the lounge seat used to be and with a too short aft bench there is no place to lay around. Hence the blow up mattress.

I bet Doug would give you a test ride on his 280:huh:

had that happen with my crownline and had the throttle in neutral thing happen with this boat. never made it to the mechanic, though!

LIVE AND LEARN. you know that'll NEVER happen to gredmer again!
