I am installing a new Garmin 160c and after research and help from this forum (thanks flyboy) will do an in hull / epoxy of the transducer. I have never run a cable from the bilge to the helm, nor have I had to get "into" the helm for any maintenance or installs. I will also try to make the most of the install by taking care of other items I have been putting off.
I will be relocating my Garmin 392 (in line of site -see pic), installing the 160c, eliminating the Lowrance 3500 (busted), replacing a rocker switch and whatever else needs to be done.
Since I will have everything at the helm torn apart, what else do I need to look for? - like corrosion, loose wires, sealing screws, etc.
Any tips on running the transducer wire will be helpful. Of particular concern - have I got enough room in the wire bundle to chase the large end of the cable through all the other wires?
Anyone else done this on same/similar boat. I will post pics when I am done (still haven't figured out locations for the 2 Garmins)
Thanks
