Not sure what the issue is. I have s 2007 200 Sundeck 5.0 Bravo I newly purchased. Bilge pump kept running. So I removed the fuse to stop the pump. The fuse that I removed was 5amp the manual says it should be a 7.5 amp. When the fuse was removed there were no running lights on the dash or anywhere else on the boat. When I initially turn the key on I get lights briefly a couple of seconds and then they go out. The toggle switches do not light up at the end of any of the dash toggles with the exception of the fire extinguisher system. After replacing the 5amp fuse with the 7.5 the fuse doesn’t blow but bilge pump continues to run. There now is a light at the end of the bilge toggle switch. I suspect my float switch is the issue with the bilge but do not understand the connection between the lights and the bilge fuse. Any suggestions would be of much help. Thanks for any advice.

There should not be any connection with the bilge pump fuse and your other dash controls. Are you sure this is the bilge pump fuse your pulling? Sounds like it's more of a main or branch fuse.

For the float switch, use a water hose and flush all around and under the float... some times they just get debris underneath that prevents them from falling to off.

Assume you removed the pump fuse that's in the bilge, not the one at the dash?

Most likely the bilge pump is running because the float switch has debris in it, or gunked up, as is stuck in the 'up' position. Check that out - most likely by feel - or try a garden hose and blast it. But if it's debris/gunked up, you'll need to remove it from the bilge and/or clean the bilge.

There should be no reason that removing the bilge pump fuse affects any other electrical device. Unfortunately, this is not really something that can be diagnosed without looking at it. You'll have to go through the circuit and see where it is shorted. Since it's a previously owned boat, we may also be up against the "previous owner" factor... ;)
