Mercruiser 4.3 Model MCM 4.3 LH V-6
Hello!! Im a New Member having just bought a ‘95 Sea Ray 185 series with a Mercruiser 4.3 model MCM 4.3 LH. (Project Boat). Can anyone help with advice or other info! After winterization Water was found in #6 cylinder. Previous owner removed plug wires without being marked. Distr. Cap has two sets of numbers I assume for LH or Standard rotation?? Motor will not start and trying to get firing order straight. (LH 165432). No water found in oil hopefully only gasket issues. Debating whether to do top end gasket replacement or drop in a new motor. Would appreciate any advice!! Thanks

Remove the distributor cap and watch which way the rotor sound when the engine is cranked.
Follow that firing order on the cap.

Thank you!! I will do that. Also, I have not found any water in the oil, I need to do a compression test. Found water in the #6 cylinder and possibly others but not sure and would like to know the common causes eg; Manifold or Riser gaskets. Any suggestions??
Thanks

Remove the riser and look into the manifold. Check for rust stains.

check the condition of the risers themselves.

Ok Thank You, I’ll do that!!

Would you have a recommendation on a 50 Amp breaker? There are quite a few choices, is there any one better than the other in a marine application?
Thanks

Find your part number from the parts manual and order that. You can find parts manuals on Sea Rays website.

If you can get a hold of a camera probe, stick it in the sparkplug holes to see what each cylinder looks like.
