Just bought a new GPS and I have a hook up question. I have 2 electrical buses behind the dash. One is for power. This is where I'd like to hook up the power to the new GPS. There is a larger red wire going to the main terminal and a bunch of fused smaller terminal. Next to that is a ground bus. If I hook up my voltmeter to the ground bus and the main terminal of the power bus, I read 12 V. But when I move the voltmeter to the smaller terminals, I don't read any voltage. Even with the accessories turned on. Antone got any ideas why there wouldn't be any power?
Secondly, there's a red power, a black ground and a yellow wire for the accessories on the new GPS. Not sure where to connect the yellow wire. Directly to my accessory switch on the dash?

I'd like to have the accessory switch have to be turned on to power up the GPS.

Or I could splice into the wiring from the original GPS?

Thanks

Typically you need to insert a fuse right next to the terminal to make it go live with power. Is there a fuse there? Is it good?

If memory servies, I twisted the yellow and red wires together and ran it off an accessory switch. But this depends on the brand. Each manufacturer has slightly different wire colors. Mine was a Garmin. Double check before doing this, I'd hate to have you mess up your new GPS. Good Luck
