Electrical cords in the Water

What? That's it? Have a great weekend? You can't leave. Come back. What are you going to do anyway, go boating? Why on earth do that? The fun is all right here.

Wow, astounding 22 posts out of a total of 91 for Hampton. That's almost one out of every four. (Or 24.17582% for those of you not in the military) Put me outside the circle with Dave on this one. And pass the Lithium.

Just give me the Lithium and then you can put me anywhere you want me. but seriously TT.. don't you think the spiders need something better to grip onto than a wet slick electrical cord?

hah! you would! Doesn't say anything about them liking to bite, thankfully. I've already had my bout with the brown recluse. Once was enough with a pissed off spider.

Spiders (roaches, etc) come aboard via docklines as well.

Probably would be a nice gesture to disconnect all docklines on your pier.

I was cleaning the grass out from around my water valves in my yard last week when a large Brown Recluse spider emerged to threaten me. I took my shoe off and wacked that puppy hard. It thought about fighting back, but it decided death was easier. Thank God. Those thing's bites are mean.

How come no one has mentioned "Barking Spiders":lol:

I thought the issue was giving spiders a way to get back on the boat. poisonous killer ones.

I'm not worried about the spiders anymore, but if I read this thread right, I AM concerned about the oompa loompa midgets climbing up a submerged cord because the COULD drink my beer.:smt100

I just had to bring this thread back... if nothing else for the negative reputation points.

So my wife pointed out this boat next to us in Atlantic City and the guy that keeps "motoring" over his cords. He keeps getting tangled up in the cords with the prop everytime he uses the dinghy...

Gives a whole new level to leaving the cords in the water. No one would believe this if I hadn't taken a picture. My wife asked "I thought you had to be smart to own a boat?"

Typical 420 DA owner...

That's awsome! :smt038I will try that this weekend... I am going back to work!

Can't see the pic here at work. Can't wait to see it later.

I've been following this thread and it's sure had it's moments! I do, in the end agree with John, he seen a problem and did what he felt was best to resolve. Yes, there could be a liability issue, but sometimes one takes action regardless of liability or not. That's not an easy thing to do but sometimes the right thing to do. John, I would not have been offended if you unplugged my cord and you made some reasonable effort to have me contacted either by yourself or a message to the dockmaster even if the dockmaster didn't contact me the fact that you took the appropiate steps would be all I would ask. Not your problem if the message does'nt get delivered. You did right.

Next time I'm just going to drive my dinghy over the damned things.

funny thing about the 420 is doesn't it seem that he has enough cord wrapped around the power tower to easily pay it out on the dock around the stern, on the dock again up the starboard then SAFELY on to the swim platform..:huh:
