I am looking to install a Stressfree Drum electric anchor winch (Australian Winch).
It needs to be bolted to the rear wall of the anchor well. Has anyone installed a drum winch and is the rear wall strong enough to support the winch during operation?

Thanks

What year is your 215? There have been a couple different 215's over the years. Similar designs, but totally different boats.

On my '00 215, I don't think I would have trusted it.

I'm not familiar with the winch your talking about, but most "windlasses" get installed on the deck - especially on a smaller boat where there isn't much height for the rope to fall. Otherwise, it'll just become a tangled mess and jam.

My weekender is a 2004 model. I believe that most windlass models pull the rope and chain through into the well. The drum winches have a large spool (drum) that holds the rope and chain. StressFree is one of the brands available in Australia. Its site can be accessed via google.
