Ahoy there.

I have an '89 Weekender 30 that the starboard engine was removed when I purchased it.

There is a wire conduit along the starboard side of the engine compartment with 4 unconnected wires - 2 green and 2 black - coming out at about the mid-engine point below the gas tank through a factory opening. These are the same heavy gauge wiring that is used throughout the grounding network that interconnect all the below deck metal fixtures (rudders, sea cocks, water strainers, etc.) together.

I'm thinking they should all be tied to ground but I'm hoping someone out there with the same boat knows for sure so I can secure them before craning the engine in.

Anyone out there be able to take a look at theirs and let me know what you see?

Thanks for your help mates!

Following SeaRay wiring standards - the green wires are your bonding system and the black are ground. There is a difference. The ground should go to a buss bar or terminal that is connected to the negative side of the batteries. The bonding system has its own buss, sometimes two, that tie all of the components that can suffer from dielectric charge together.

With that said, is the bonding system tied to the system ground? If so, this would seem a potentially logical point to make that interconnect. If not, I would only connect the two black wires to the boat electrical ground at this juncture? And what would the disposition be for the greens?

Thanks for your info and help!
