Easily Added Bluetooth Audio to My Boat (FYI) (DIY)

FYI

For those of you looking to add bluetooth audio to your boat, I found this little dongle and plugged it into that AUX input on the port side dash. It works great! It plays audio from my iPhone 6+ with no issues. I set my iPhone on the boat dash with a rubber case and it doesn't slide around at all. It's easy to control music (skip songs, play specific songs, etc.) directly from my phone. Music plays wirelessly throughout the boat.

I've been using this same device on my boat for years, works great. However, I plug mine into a small FM transmitter, so all the folks on the hook around me can tune in and we all play the same music. Amazon for about $15.

Watch out putting the phone on the dash. They heat up very quickly in the sun and go into emergency overheat mode. I cover mine with a t shirt.

I do that with my XM transmitter. It is direct connected to my system but still does FM transmission.

My boat doesn't have an aux jack (that I know of???) but I do have the ipod adapter inside the head door w/ a little holder for an ipod. I bought a bluetooth dongle called CoolStream Duo that plugs into the iphone jack (iphone 4s and older). Seems to work great. I also bought a suction cup mount for the iphone that's on the windshield within easy reach to control music.
