I would like to do a thru hull exhaust this summer. I'm having trouble finding places to purchase parts, "how to" articles etc...

When it comes to fabrication i am no novice. I've lived in the shop/garage most of my life so I'm quite confident i can tackle this task myself. I've just never done it before. It would be nice if i could find a few online tech articles. I can "get the job done" but I'm sure someone with more boating experience will have a better method.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you doing this for the sound/noise? My understanding is that the small block engines receive no performance benefit with thru hull exhaust.

I've heard that Corsa is real good with help on custom design and application.

You can find some great deals on Ebay with used and take-off systems as well. GREAT deals! Even thought of doing this with my AJ until I got rid of it.

I was thinking about putting a switchable thru hull on both of our boats, one of which is the same as Beer Thirty's. I had never heard about the lack of benefit in a small block. Do you have a source? It may change my decision.

My only source was the guy who owned the marine repair that I worked for about 15 years ago. I also seemed to remember reading it in a tech section of some boating magazine. There was talk about the HP increase per $$ spent.

I was told that the small blocks do not breathe any better with thru hull exhaust. It seems like they would but all they do is souund faster 'cause they make more noise.

On the other hand, the BB do benefit from better exhaust.

Sorry I can't recall the source. Maybe one of the motorheads can chime in.

I've done it to a number of different engine/outdrive combinations. Even a 454 through an Alpha will only gain 50 to 100 rpm at WOT.

I have Corsa thru hull exhaust on my 08 240SD 350 mag B3 and I never use it. I made a couple of runs one moring when the lake was like glass and I gained approx 2 mph at WOT with the thru hull on. So unless you just want the boat to be louder I would not waste the money.

On our 240SD 350MAG, we probably only hit WOT two or three times, so the performance gains from the through hull were not an issue...the sound, however, was bitchin' on the few occasions we used it.

I like the nice note of the Flow Masters on the truck and the Olds. I think I would've been disappointed if there wasn't also a noticable performance gain.

I need to see if performance or economy would be improved with a thru hull on the boats.

I know it won't gain me much of a performance gain but im going for sound. It would a full time thru hull as well. As the corsa and systems like it are WAY out of my price range.
