Ducks crapping all over swim platform

Flying big greasy rats... I hate them and let me be the first to apologize for them... This is my favorite nephew ... He is doing his part with the Canadian geese epedemic and in his spare time he comes down from Canada to help the USA restore power after storms ...pic is NY but he has been down to Florida a number of times recently with his crew

These are sad pictures......:(

2 years ago they would dump all my platform. Like most old Sea Ray 340/390s the platform is low to the water. I took a 18X24 piece of 3/4" plywood and drove 8 penny stainless nails on 2" centers and left it upside down on the right corner of the swim platform where the would board. It worked! I call it the board of death.

The best thing I ever did for crap on my platform was to put a dinghy on the platform. 99.9% effective :)

I float a 3' inflatable toy alligator that I bought on Amazon tied with fishing line to my swim ladder mount. Took care of the problem immediately.

We are lucky to worry only about Canada Geese and Mallards. My children live in San Francisco. You should see what the Sea Lions do to boats in the local harbors. Not just the swim platforms. They actually get into the cockpits and set up light housekeeping.

Like this...

https://www.ocregister.com/2011/07/13/newport-prepares-for-sea-lion-invasion/

"Citizens who aren’t able to deter the sea lions are subject to a seven-day warning to get rid of the sea lions, followed by citations ranging from $100 for the first offense to $500 for the third, Miller said."

That is funnier than many jokes I've posted, at least you will not be fined if a duck is on your boat...

MM

So let me get this straight. Sea Lions are protected and you are restricted in what you can do to get rid of them. Then if you don't get rid of them you get fined. Mmmmm. We are the government and we are here to help! :D

Hey guys I have a 1987 340 express. I have been fighting with ducks they keep crapping all over my swim platform .does anyone have an idea for keeping them from making my swim platform a shitty situation lol
Had a similar issue with ducks on fingers of my slip as a live-aboard neighbor feeds them every day. Leaving a few moth balls out keeps them away.

Remember. This is California we are speaking about. So yes. That's about it. The crap inspector notices that you have mounds of crap in your cockpit and sends you a bill for $500. Keep it up and they put you on the "crap map" which details where the worst piles are located. This way tourists know which areas to avoid.

My nephew.... second from left and his dog rudder this weekend keeping up with thinning the herd of these dirty birds....

I kinda had to chuckle looking at this picture - "was it tough finding the birds this year?"..."nope, we just turned around and 15 of them were 8 yards behind us" :)

Not sure about your specific model year but you may need to buy a new horn. Ducks are naturally attracted to SeaRays because of the infamous SR Duck fart horn that they install. Some sort of natural attraction thing. (sorry, couldn't resist) ;)

Just replace it with a train-horn attached to the swim platform on a motion sensor. Pretty sure that will solve it.
