I have often thought why don’t they put dual props onstraight inboards. It would seem as though the craft would be more efficientwith them The pocket drives on Sea Ray would seem to be a perfect candidate the thought is it would work almost a like a jet jet drive.

Dual props require a shaft within a shaft. It is one thing to accomplish this on a shaft that is short as an outdrive but I doubt it would be easy to do this on a shaft that is several feet long that you find on an inboard.

And they are contra rotating which adds a gearing complexity to the issue. In some ways the question 'let's put duo props on a shaft drive' has already been asked and answered by the leading manufacturers. 'We will have to shorten the drive shaft...and add a gearbox...." They call it IPS and Zeus.
