I'm hoping to seal the deal on a new SD260 on Tuesday with a 496MAG DTS. From what I've read about DTS, it is exceptional for throttle response, and the smart tow feature. However, I've been unable to substantiate if the outdrive sees any protection from this wizbang?
I'm eager to teach my wife to run the boat, and it would be fantastic if DTS will actually wait for the RPM's to come down when shifting from F to R and vice versa. Does the system in fact hold off on shifting until an acceptable RPM range has been reached?
This isn't somethign I'd like to try on a whim . I'd like to know for a fact that the system will not shift the outdrive from on gear to another without supervision. There is no information that I've been able to find on either Mercury's or Sea Ray's website that details any outdrive protection.
Thanks!
