Anybody know of any good dry storage places in Jacksonville, FL? I've read some reviews from Lake Shore Dry Storage, but haven't reviewed any on the SW west of Jaxs.

Kiloil,

I keep mine at Lakeshore and although it is a no frills location, it is very reasonably priced and Leon does a great job with any assistance needed. I've been there for about a year now. Nice protected area when the wind is kicking up.

Thank you. I have a feeling, this will be the place I land at and I rather have no frills place anyways, so this works good. I am currently at dry storage place in St Andrews Bay (Panama City), but I am realizing now after my knees hurt from wake boarding/knee boarding, I need calmer waters.

Any good restaurants to pull up to have lunch/dinner? Do you know Leon is an ASE certified technician, my extended warranty folks require it.

Thank you again.

I went to look at Lakshore, and Leon was a big help. Since his facility is gated, where do you pull the boat in on the first day to unload the boat for the lift to pick it up?

You are going to have to launch it somewhere and boat to the marina. They will not unload from a trailer. I launched from a place called Duck Pond off of San Juan. It is a 5 minute run to get to the marina. As far as restaurants there are none close to that location but The Landing Downtown is really pretty close. There are also plenty of places south off of the St. Johns. I would not allow the mechanic at Lakeshore to work on my boat. I have Lamb's Yacht Center next door do my work. They do an awesome job. You will like Leon, he always seems to look out for you.

Eweise-Thanks. I figured as much when I asked him if had ASE mechanics on board, he mentioned to go next door.

Kiloil,

So are you moving to Jax? I see your location shows Tallahassee.

No not at this time but the future may allow us to. We are just weekend folks that drive 2 hrs each way to boat, spend 6 or so hours out skiing and such then drive back home. PC is 2 hrs each way, and I made it to Jaxs in 2 hrs, so I think we are going to try it next weekend.

Eweise_ Thanks for the referral, my boat is safely there now. Will see how long I keep it there and how the rivers will comply to my knees. Mine is probably way up, because my ski tower being so big..

I do have a question...where are the beaches that every one goes to?

Kiloil,

Not any beaches on this part of the St. Johns. The closest beach would probably be Ft. George and it is just north of Mayport. That is probably about an hour run to get there. There are several places that people anchor up and hang out though.

Kiloil,

I see you made the move to Lakeshore. Hope you like the location. How have you enjoyed the area?

Not bad at all. If you see an aft bolster floating north of Lakeside and south of Jaxs Landing, tell it to come home. The wind grabbed it last weekend and off it went. By the time we noticed it, I was north of John Sessions Park.

I tried to get close and anchor out by a sand bar (we could see a cruise ship) with the other boaters, but couldn't get close enough to walk on the beach.

Darn the bad luck. That must have been the Carnival Cruise ship. Glad you are enjoying the St. Johns. There is quite a lot to explore here.
