Dry compass

It's probably a Ritchie compass. If so remove it and send it to them in Pembroke Mass. They will recondition it for a very reasonable price. Much cheaper and easier than buying a new compass and having to retrofit it.

my compass has lost its fluid. Can this be refilled and with what and how?

Thank you!
today, i rebuilt my ritchie (HF 73). it was no problem, at all. i bought a pint of isopar L ($10), and a turkey marinade injector. i took apart the whole unit, cleaned it, lightly regreased the o-ring (very important), as this is most likely the source of the reason why the fluid evaporated, and reassembled. i did buy a new shade from ritchie--they are extremely helpful--and the part was only $13, including the LED light (downright cheap!). any questions, please feel free to contact me.
