Driving Vacation to Boston-Cape Cod Area

We will be leaving Sep-15th from Kingston, Ontario. There will be two couples sharing the driving.We will enter USA via the Thousand Islands Bridge and take I-90 across to the east coast. We are thinking of staying in the Plymouth, Mass. area for several days. What we are looking for is opinions on the best places to stay at reasonable rates. All of your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

do the north end of boston.....little italy for dinner, old north church, paul reveres house, uss consitution.....take the falmouth ferry to edgartown on marthas vineyard for the day - the bus (you do NOT need your car here) can get you to oak bluffs to see the gingerbread houses and menemsha for a swim and lobster.....hyannis is not a bad stop on the cape or p-town is a longer ride but worth it - plymouth has the mayflower and plantation......if you go north of boston salem and rockport are good stops too

Drive out to Provincetown for lunch and take a whale watch trip before returning to Plymouth. After Labor Day the room rates should be lower.
