One of my drawer knobs stripped out and I was wondering where people get replacements. I ordered some from Flounder Pounder but they do not work on the drawers because of the thickness. The old one has an extender sleeve as seen in the picture which is what stripped. The new one from FP is beside it.

Heard back from FP. Apparently what I need is a Hafele 10mm extension pin which is a $2.38 item. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore and FP has none in stock. No luck on Ebay. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Just about to respond, when your new post popped up. Yes, the manufacturer should be Hafele. Just to be sure, try contacting them directly to see if they still make it. Then, they can help you find a local distributor for Hafele (furniture hardware). If the piece is still produced, they should be able to get it for you.

Or... carefully drill out the backside of the drawer to recess the 10mm bolt.

Or... get a longer bolt.

Yeah that won't work because then the latch wouldn't catch when trying to lock. This is insane that there is nothing to accommodate the 1 1/2 depth of the drawer and the wood veneer.

Drilling out the backside... Oh, right. The screw goes through the latching mechanism. Slipped my mind on that part.

How 'bout the longer bolt?

I just quickly typed "10mm screw extender" into google... https://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Screw-Adapters-Converts-Yamaha/dp/B00TI2QFZ0 This particular one has a CCW thread, but I have to think that it won't be hard to find a "normal" thread version of it.

May not be the right length... but could be cut down... Also, try contacting a place like Mcmaster Carr or a local hardware store.

Did you try contacting Hafele directly, yourself?

Larry I'm not sure we are talking about exactly the same thing. That latch (picture attached) has a built in "screw" that the knob screws on to that can't be swapped out. Hafele/ Sea Ray or someone put the extensions on the knobs for the drawers (as seen in the original picture) to account for the extra thickness of the drawer and the wood veneer. That is the part I need...something that screws into the knob and onto the push screw. The doors are fine because it's just 3/4" thick so the latch/knob combo works. It's just the drawers. I have contacted Hafele and they were of absolutely no help. I even asked who their distributors are and the support person said they didn't know. I've searched online in all types of furniture/cabinet/ hardware stores. Even find a latch that is 1/2-3/4" longer would help but so far no dice. Surprised this hasn't been an issue before. Basically the threads just corroded out in the old one. I haven't tried taking any others off for fear of running into the same problem.

You know, I've replaced enough of these over the years that I should have remembered what you were asking. Yeah, I was thinking of something totally different in my mind.

That's disappointing about Hafele. The last time I contacted them they were fantastic - even sent me all kinds of technical drawings and local distributors.

OK, so back to either just googling or try Mcmaster or a "real" hardware store.

Another thought... I would only use a little bit, but you "could" JB Weld or Marinetex it back on. If you ever needed to take it apart (for full replacement) the other screw end should "hopefully" still unscrew.

That one I linked to above appears to be a set - (1) CCW and (1) CW thread.

Would this work? You can get it from your dealer.

That picture you just attached...where is that from? That's exactly what I need.

"One" of my jobs is working at a Sea Ray dealership. That's my "parts fiche". If you call your local dealer, just give them that part number. If they don't have it in stock, ask them to order it with their next Sea Ray order (to save on shipping).

If you end up doing more googling, it should probably be done with the exact screw size (since 10mm isn't the diameter). The other part number shows 6mm - but a local hardware store can match up the exact size.

Just ordered through my local Marine Max dealer. If it's the right part it will be awesome! Thank you for the tip. Probably should have started with Sea Ray to begin with.
