We took off last Wednesday morning (July 27th) for a 5 day adventure docked in downtown Nashville. We started the first night with a Journey concert at the new Ascend amphitheater which is located just south of the dock. The rest of the week through Sunday we spent relaxing and having a great time with friends. The trip included my 1990 310DA, a 2009 330DA and a 63' diesel Summerset houseboat. We later were joined by some additional friends in their 30' Chaparral cruiser.
Getting on plane after the no wake at the marina.
All tied up and waiting to go down. I have been on this lake for 3 seasons now and this is the first time I have made the 17 mile trip to the lock.
At the bottom waiting for the doors to open.
Back up on plane after exiting the lock onto the Cumberland river.
Interesting sight. Not sure what the story about the plane is, but the enclosed porch is covering a hole in the cliff that was used to store ammo during the Civil War.
Caught up to the houseboat. They left 2 1/2hrs before we did and it took less than an hour to catch up including the lock time.
We slowed down to keep pace with our friends. Their max speed is 8mph and the current gave them a bit more. Going to be a long couple of hours getting to downtown.
Downtown is finally in sight!
I see our dock ahead.
Downtown riverfront. Our home for the next five days.
Our Wednesday night entertainment. What a great show.
When we got back from the show we found that some homeless folks had raided the cockpit fridges and removed all the beer. We left a note that could be read from the overhead walking bridge. Thankfully they did not take anything else or break into the cabins.
View from my boat across the river at the other dock. The building is a big event center.
Just to the north of that dock is the Titans stadium.
The view of the boats from the walking bridge.
A Nashville night.
It was an amazing 5 days with family and friends. We explored, rocked out to a great show, ate way more than we should have and became closer friends. It was worth every drop of fuel we burned and every beer that was stolen.
