Hi All,

I want to add two Scotty downriggers to my '09 Sundancer 240. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Seattle area that can put the mounts on them in a clean manner. Also, if anyone has put downriggers on their cruisers, I'd love to see pics or get some advice to help me determine which direction to go in. Thanks in advance!

HL.

I know several folks who have had their Scotty's installed at Auburn Sports and Marine they are an authorized scotty dealer and repair shop they do excellent work. I installed my own cannon's they could only go in one area of the transom I would have preferred closer to the stern but didn't want a riser on them. Here's a link to auburn sports.
Edit: Also Lake Union Sea Ray is a scotty dealer and installer we have a lot of Boston Whalers at our marina with scottys that Lake Union in Fife did the install when they purchased the boats I looked at a couple before installing mine excellent work.

That is a nice and clean install. Thanks for the suggestion!

Here is my setup using Scotty "Armstong"(JK) downriggers. They are manual and rather short, but they are far enough aft that the rigger wire seldom touches the swim platform. It would be better to have larger riggers, but I had these from my last boat so I re-used them.
(sorry for the larger picture size, but I wanted you to be able to see the mounting).

I installed rod holders in the gunnels (I used 30 degree, but with hindsight 15 degree would have been better). Then I bought Walker brand downrigger mounts designed to be inserted in rod holders. I had to redrill the plates to fit the Scotty mounting pattern. The downriggers can be removed from the Walker mounts and then both the riggers and the mounts stored when I am not using them. Its a nice clean way to keep the boat uncluttered when you're not fishing.

I went to Auburn Sports and Marine--great place and very helpful people (and pretty good pricing)! I picked up two Scotty 1106 downriggers (60" telescopic arm). Though I can't stand their outrageous install pricing, I'm probably just going to have South Lake Union Sea Ray install them when they put on my kicker engine. I'll post pics of the install.
