Down at the boat yesterday and noticed a small water trail coming from the bottom of the head.
Took off the pedal to reveal the water valve was dripping slowly but constantly at the bottom. Fittings were dry.

Ok needs to be replaced. Seems straight forward.
Go to the usual sources and they are ~$45.
A few more clicks and I find this on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/313955590113?

Now I know it's not original equipment but any reason not to try for 25% of the cost?
Would you?

Is the $30 going to kill you?

Do it right the first time.

Definitely not gonna kill me.
And its not in a difficult or impossible location to get to. Literally 2 screws and 2 clamps.
Just one of those things that annoyed me.

I'd definitely try it out, but might have an OEM one on hand as well just in case.

It's not about the 30 bucks for me but the fact that these plastic marine toilet parts are an obscene rip off.

The $700 vacuum pump being the worst example.

The plastic housing is different on the non-OEM and will fail much faster then OEM.

If your going to by aftermarket, buy two ...

Looks to be one of the more believable sellers.. items for sale are all related to marine or auto. always skeptical when the seller has mixed merchandise for sale. be cautious though - this seller has 11 negative complaints recently - all regarding wrong items being shipped and long shipping (or never received). Shipping from US as well. Depending on how bad you need the part (timing/criticality) ability to repeat the repair, and overall cost - then make your decision.

For what its worth - Amazon has several options as well, starting roughly around $16. Next day delivery (for us) if you have Prime. They also sell the original for $40. Both have free returns. You can order both, try out the generic one if you want, and worst case - you have the dometic branded one. Return the one you dont use.

For me, the time (next day) and flexibility (multiple parts, free returns), is worth it.

I just bought one for my head for same issue and noticed the same huge variation in price, from 170 to 17.

I took a chance on a Beech Lane brand off Amazon for 17. Had 171 reviews with 4.5 stars average. Company claims it is an upgraded valve that is better than OEM. If I get taken then I will live. I’ve been scammed for more! I haven’t installed it yet, but if it fits okay and feels right, I will just get another and keep in the ever growing on-board parts box for an quick underway repair.

Prime delivered the dometic brand first so it was installed yday.
on a scale of 1-10 of difficulty, this is a 0.5
Hardest part was removing the feed line from the valve to the vacuum break/check valve

Going to replace the one in the aft head with the non OEM when it arrives... (that pedal sticks occasionally)
