I think they're doing a wonderful job of protecting us.....from the Good Fairy, the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Puxatawny Phil and other nefarious villians.

Beyond that, it's all window dressing. On a recent flight to AZ the gave the "extended screening" (or whatever they call it) to my 95-year-old Mother in Law. She's about 5' tall, weighs about 103.

Go Figure.

I've not met the person that thinks the whole TSA thing is of any value. MM

Hum not sure... They are 50/50 IMHO... some are good and some like to talk to one another then to work so its day to day. Side note... today going through security there was a girl in a see through skin tight shirt that said "I'm not a terrorist stop looking". Pretty crazy but she was a nice lookin thing...

It was the Knitting needles she was carrying....they probably thought she would knit an Afghan.....

As sorry as some of the TSA folks can be, we haven't had another 9/11...............................:wow:

They've confiscated alot of guns and blades, if you saw half of what i did everyday at the airport you'd be in shock!! I'm also not against profiling either.

Yes profile. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, talks like a duck.........
Can anyone show how many terrorists attacks have been stopped by these check points? So now I'm goimng to hear that since none have been found the system is working. Thats like saying the fish aren't biting when you're fishing in an ice skating rink.

Lance,
I'm not saying what you stated is not true but where is the public statement of these being taken. Wouldn't the TSA want to make public these items to show validity for what they do?
If I were in the eye of the public as much as they are I would be waving every weapon taken in the publics face.

That would be alright in a perfect world, but if everyone saw the items that were being found it cause mass hysteria.:wow:

...But if they are not from terrorists or people with criminal intent, they are just mistakes or gifts that got intercepted.

...Maybe among liberals...

Lance, in my opinion we are looking for anything to validate the TSA existence. If anything we are already at hysteria level as TSA continues to probe everybody with little or no real results to show for it. I do believe it is a deterrent to keep honest people honest and there has not been a high jacking since it's been implemented. I just don't think we need to go to the depth of personal degradation that is has evolved into.

Yeah, the wonderful TSA took from me a beautiful, stainless steel wine bottle opener (cork puller) that I had traveled with for many years. The reason they confiscated it....it had a 3/4" long, retractable foil cutter blade.

So now I have a new wine opener that has a built in blade that's only about 3/16" long that can't be pulled out of the opener. The TSA agents always open my carry on bag to check the wine opener and always seem a bit disappointed because they can't confiscate another horrible weapon and protect millions of the U.S. traveling public from me.

They don't seem to understand that I could have done a helluva lot more damage with the open corkscrew than I ever could have done with the 3/4" blade.

TSA is Worthless, but that's just my humble opinion.

Regular Airline screeners would get that stuff! We don't need the Fed. doing it. They don't do much right! It's the Airlines responsibility not the Tax Payer, Mike.

So if the TSA is of no value, would you feel comfortable flying without a screening at all? What do you propose is a better solution. I think you're getting 'inconvenience' vs. 'value' confused.
