Does the mirror open

By now I'm sure everyone knows I'm a newbie. I bought my 1996 Sundancer 270 over the winter so I have just started playing with it. While working on the upholstery today, I noticed the mirror at the front of the v birth has a long piano hinge on it. I tried to open it and it would not open. Does it open some how? It looks like it should swing up but I don't want to pull too hard and end up buying a new mirror.

88 DA, fingerhold along the bottom. Just give it a tug to release the latch. opens into my anchor chain locker.
