Does the bimini frame burn the curtains?

I just installed the camper enclosure on my 260 sundeck and I am wondering if anyone has any issues with the bimini frame heating up and burning marks in the clear plastics? I heard this might be an issue and would like to take some precautions if possible.

Yes it can, a guy a couple of slips down from me ruined his last year.

I just bought some of these and will see how they look this weekend.

Yes, use something to keep the metal from the plastic. I ran some velcro (black strips) to keep it from contact on my prior boat.

does anyone know if the poles on the bimini are 7/8 or 1"?

They are called "Sun Sox" and are sold by "Marine store.com" which describes them in detail and what colors are available.

Taylor also makes them - they're called Bimini Sox. It might even be something (whether Sun Sox or Bimini Sox) that Jim carries... BOE Marine - the guy who hosts this site. Just another option.

Don't know the name, but we have been using the sox for a couple years. They work great, just wish I had found out about them before the eisenglass got marked.

On my last boat I used these window spacers they seemed to prevent the problem, cheap and if got lost was easy to replace.

I think i might get the window savers. anyone know what size the pole are on the sundecks?
Would like to pick them up for I go down to the boat.... :grin:

Black foam pipe insulators from Lowes work well too. Install when boat is not being used, remove when it is.

The window savers work great. And if you lose one, you can feel good knowing that it will only cost you one actual dollar to replace it. Enjoy, because it is the only $1 part on the whole boat.
