Does anyone dive (scuba) off their boat?

My wife and I dive, however, we dry dock at Lake Lanier (not the best diving--viz is terrible). We've been to Jocassee, and it's better, and may tow up there to try it.

I'm looking for suggestions (within towing distance), if anyone else in the SE dives off their boat.

BKP,

We do not dive off our boat (well at least scuba dive) but I love the look of your boat. Could you put some pictures of it in the Virtual Marina. Everytime I see you boat I find myself going to the Sea Ray site to take a look at it again. Very nice looking boat. Ok back on subject. Anyone got a good spot to dive in the SE?

Hummmm....not to change the subject but I think someone has the itch to move up, eh Wesley.

As far as diving off a boat are you looking to drive to the coast or central Florida?

There are a number of places from St Marks River to Black Warrior River close to Milton Fla.

Grays Reef is a nice place to go, about 18 miles off the coast of Ga, out from Sapelo Island, due to the distance offshore you may want to find a local to charter for diving, although people will say you can do it in your boat on a good day but the water can turn nasty real quick out there. I am an avid diver and spearfisherman here on the west coast of Florida. My frequent diving is what got me in a 290AJ. I set up roll control tank holders on the aft gunwales, and with the seat out of the cockpit, the 290AJ has plenty of room to gear up. My speargun rack is removable and mounted on the bait station. The hot water on the transom is an added bonus during winter diving!

When not diving, the AJ is a capable cruiser and even fishing boat.

New boat, planning on diving

I'm near Tampa bay and hope to start diving nearby. There are several spots listed on

http://www.divespots.com/

that may help you find spots.

Anyone with experience near Tampa, let me know. I have a lot to learn before heading out.
