Hello fellow boat lovers.
As a future Sea Ray SPXE19 boat owner, I would like to share with you the uncomfortable situation I am currently dealing with regarding the boat's production term and its ETA.
On the 31st of March 2017 I order this boat from our local dealer (Romania - Europe) and I was given a contract (based on which I made an advance payment of 30%) with an ETA on the 20th of June 2017. I was also given an order confirmation and a production number, both issued by Brunswick Boat Group.
On the 12th of June 2017 I contacted the local dealer so as to make the final arrangements regarding the delivery and it was only then that I found out that my order would not be honored according to the contract signed. They said that my order would most probably have a 3 week delay and they forwarded the conversation they themselves had with a certain Regional Sales Manager EMEA (who's office is somewhere in the Netherlands) who claims, with a total lack of professionalism, that our order number has been changed and its production hasn't been started yet.
Hoping that this was all a misunderstanding, I decided to contact this Regional Sales Manager EMEA myself, but I was shocked by his attitude and lack of respect for his clients. Long story short, he claims that there is nothing unusual in delaying orders, that it is none of my business how they organize their production process and that I will enjoy my boat in July. Moreover, he stated "I'm under the impression that I have informed the dealer”. (Is this a suitable answer given by a Regional Sales Manager???)
I am telling you my story so that you be more carefull when ordering and not end up in my situation. It is more than obvious that they (meaning this Regional Sales Manager or whoever in the sales department) sold the boat we had ordered, and which was due on the 20th of June, to another buyer who probably had a different statute than I did with this Regional Sales Manager. The problem, surely, didn't occur because of the dealer but as a result of a faulty and erroneous management (or maybe personal interests) of the Sales Department for Europe. Not to mention that this boat was not ordered for leisure activities, but with the scope of renting it. Therefore, our company now has to deal with the contracts that we have signed with several clients and which begin on the 1st of July, contracts that cannot be honored since the boat wil not arrive on the 20th of June as stated.
Following these facts I've just presented above, I decided to send a notice of complaint to Sea Ray USA and was contacted by their International Sales Manager to whom I explained the situation. Unfortunately, the lack of competence transcends departments in the sea ray company and I have had to deal with the same level of amateurism and lack of respect, by not being able ( or wanting ) to do anything that would solve the the situation at hand and honour their part of the contract.

Going back to my question in the title and considering what I have already told you, can we truly say that Sea Ray is a trustworthy partner?
Is it normal and acceptable that we found out only 7 days before the delivery of our order that the boat's production hasn't even begun?
Can we talk about a lack of professionalism and respect for the client when considering the attitude shown by the Regional Sales Manager EMEA and International Sales Manager?
