If any of you have been following this thread http://www.clubsearay.com/forums/vi...ghlight=&sid=4f2502aca66a10204f3fe4a9f59e7d77 you can see that it has been sugested that it may be possible to hook up a sensor to Smartcraft for the water tank.

I was wondering what Sea Ray does on it's larger boats to monitor the fresh water tank level? Is there a gauge and if so is it part of Smartcraft or is it seperate?

Any information anyone can provide will be appreciated.

Dave

The normal setup for the 3 Sea Rays that I have owned is a level indicator on the main electrical distribution panel. It is not too accurate, but lights indicatie full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4. I have never looked at the sending unit to know what brand it is.

I certainly don't think you need a water tank level indicator at the helm. While certainly helpful to know what's in the tank, this is a secondary system that should not clutter the helm area.

Came stock on our 2002 340DA too. It shows full for a long time then goes down more rapidly, but I like it a lot.

I always remember a water tank guage reading FULL, 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 too.
I just wish the holding tannk would read the same way. When that hits 1/2 the next light is "Do not flush". So after the 1/2 light you could be 20 flushes away from "Do not flush" or 2.
As a side note there is also an "Empty" light on the holding tank that I do not ever remember till our current '98 boat. It will only come on when you suck every last drop out of the tank and stay on for one or two "liquid" flushes after that.

Dave,

The indicator on the panel is an led read out that is incorporated into the main panel design. The sender is inside the tank, so I think the only place you will get the specifics on the water level indicator hardware is from Sea Ray or from a parts guy at your dealer...........and perhaps Flounder Pounder Marine.

Dave, We have one on our 300DA. Like others have mentioned the level indicator is in the main distribution panel and turns on when you switch on the water system breaker. Sure beats having to open the engine compartment and checking the level through the water tank. I feel this SHOULD be standard on all SR cruisers..... Brian

Thanks everyone. I'll start by talking to the Service Department Techs at my dealership and then go from there.
