Just a like to hear your thoughts I'm installing a Garmin 7608 on my boat and I have the old st60 that I want to steal the transducer from do I really need that xt60 anymore or should I just completely remove it from the boat? To me it's just displaying speed and depth with the Garmin will already be displaying I'm thinking about just removing it and maybe somebody has a broken one I can sell it to them hummm....

Dos the Garmin have its own transducer? If yes, then the ST60 would be redundant. If yours is like mine, the ST60 is on an old SeaTalk network, which is a flavor of NEMA0183. You will need a converter to get that data from the ST60 over to your Garmin.

Airmar makes a N2K transducer, but unsure if it fits in the same through hull fitting. http://www.airmar.com/productdescri...he DST800 is a Smart,2000® display or network.

Actually just installed the garmin and followed the wire colors and I'm getin depth water temp from the raymarine st60 so I guess its staying haha. Sweet!

If you connected to the SeaTalk network then it has to stay.

The only issue I have seen is that the LCD is getting old/burned out. Its possible to replace it and the new screen make it look brand new. I replaced the screen on my Autopilot and made a big improvement.

No just using the red wire coming from the st60 interface box to the brown wire of the garmin 7608. The 9nly issue in notecing is the lake water temp blinks on and of at about 3 or 4 hrz any ideas?
