Do I have recourse against the broker?

The contract should state/imply that the problem is to be repaired. If they misdiagnosed it then that is on them. Can you post the wording of what the contract said?

Update. I contacted the company that the broker works for. The manager sent me an email after I called him. He said that he spoke to the broker and mechanic. The mechanic claims he checked the panel for 3 days in a row after he changed it and it worked. The manager stated that they fulfilled the contract and offered to send me the old pad.

Well damnit, if you do decide to sell his kids into slavery, let me know. I need a small one to climb in my anchor locker and change out the air horns. I'll even feed them.

I gotta do this too. I hope my arms are long enough to reach them. Plan to pull the boat in bow first and hopefully I can stand on the dock and lean in there to get to them….

Golfman is right, it’s not usually the pad it’s the EIM that goes bad. the parts to fix the pad/EIM are $4k + labor to put it in.

From what I have seen the keypads are more subjective to having problems. Front rubber seals and rear seals cracking and letting in water. Many people attribute issues with the EIMs that are related to keypad or connector issues sending bad signals.

I also have seen non-issue become issues when people play with things. Case in point is the windlass main solenoid. There is a small fuse on it however when the fuse blows many people start blaming the keypads or EIMs.

Now, there are some EIMs that do fail but since they are generally better protected they don't take the abuse the keypads do.

If it worked and goes in an out start looking at the grey Deutsch connectors to see if they are clean and making good contacts. A little electronic cleaner and dielectric grease may go a long way. Since these keypads only send computer signals anything that disrupts that may cause a problem
