I thought this board went down Friday and has been down all weekend because

http://clubsearay.com/

started going to some setup page.

If you type in

http://www.clubsearay.com/

it works. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who think this board is down because something happened to the DNS server Friday afternoon.

There is a basic engineering saying of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I just got a green screen and some Apache server message on Friday. I figured I'd missed some thread about maintenance and down time.

I was trying to get my post count higher than yours so I told Wesley to make sure you would think the board is down.

I guess it worked except I still couldn't get enough posts in to catch up to you.

Dave,

I worked on a project a couple of years ago that automatically posted shipping data updates via web forms to a website. If you want to start a thread titled, say "Gary is Number 2", I'll put one of my guys on it tomorrow morning. Shouldn't take much more that six hours to put you so far out in front he would never catch up. Course Jim might not be too happy, it definitely would get me chastised (can you get multiple red balls?).

hey... I ran into the apache page yest. too.... thought it was something my almost son-in-law had done to the pc...... ;):smt021:smt001:smt043:lol:

Well... make fun of me if you want..

The server and the DNS is screwed up... I'm sure there are a lot of people that think this site is down/dead.

If you want to have a site with 4000+ members, this kind of stuff is not right.

Of course, I also think having the DNS server on the same box as the actual board software is nuts... but what do I know.

Gary,

I have reported the problem however whether I put in clubsearay.com or www.clubsearay.com everything seems to be working fine. I do not see where anyone else has mentioned having any problems. Of course I know nothing about this stuff so we will see what the powers at be say about it.

Here is what I see when I type in

http://clubsearay.com/

You can see the URL in the window. If I add "index.php" to it, I get to the right page:

http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php

Also, if I type in the full URL of

http://www.clubsearay.com/ I get the right page:

So sometime last week, someone has changed the pointer of clubsearay.com to point to something else than index.php. I'm sure I'm not the only one seeing this. In today's Internet, it is very common to leave off the "www" and no one is going think "oh.. I need to type in "index.php"... unless they want to see how a script is written. I suspect a lot of people here that have bookmarked clubsearay have either bookmarked the full url or have the index.php added. I did not... which is how I see this.

OK... The results above are running Firefox on MacBook Pro. If I do the same exercise on a PC with IE, it all works fine. If I do the same exercise on a MacBook Pro running Safari, it all works fine. I don't have Firefox on a PC so I don't know what the effect of that is but this configuration seems to allow Firefox to go around and break the set up.

It's still broke... I should not be allowed to see that cPanel screen.

Ok Gary. I got this page over the weekend also. It kept me off for several hours. I did not know what was going on. To get on I had to delete my short cut, clear the cookies, and then type in www.clubsearay.com. Backing you up better not ruin my reputation.

I didn't get any of those problems but I did stop receiving email notifications about new posts in threads I have posted in

I had the same, was busy so I figured I would just come back later

OK. I cleared my cookies and it fixed the problem in Firefox. I hate doing that... Now all the crap I like to have cookies for is gone and I have to reauthenticate a bunch of stuff.

You should have cleared just the cookies from this site, not everything.

I haven't received e-mail notifications in a couple of months........I don't think it's related though.
