diy fault code reader

This diy code reader for 2000 and older mercruiser with 10 pin DLC plug.

Can anyone think of a reason why you couldn't mount the LED at the dash and install a switch across the jumper so you can read any trouble code with a flip of a switch at the dash.

might would work but it seems like a lot of trouble with little benefit.....IMO it would be just as easy to leave the code reader plugged in the wiring harness all the time and simply raise the ER hatch and look to see any codes flashing....also if you had twin engines you would need two lights on the dash and two readers with wiring.....

good thought though.....
