Ditto's Landing Marina in Huntsville, Al - what to expect?

I just took this picture a few minutes ago and the water is almost over our dock. Our dock is not very long and the water is normally 8 feet off of the end. It is probably 11 feet now. I hope those who have boats on a lift have checked them.

High water on Lake Guntersville.
Got a couple more inches of seawall to spare.
We are spoiled on this lake with incredibly stable water elevations throughout the year. This is anomolous.

I just talked with a physician friend of mine who became a licensed captain after retirement. He is also a past board member of Goosepond Colony and was instrumental in the building and developement of the marina. If you would like, I can send you his e-mail and you can talk with him directly. There may be a way of "moving up" on the wait list at Goosepond.

He is bringing up a boat from Fort Myers probably in late April or May. The owner is in Canton, Georgia and is looking at Goosepond or the Chattanooga area. He suggested you look into driving your boat up and is willing to let you borrow his charts. He also has some detailed info concerning that trip he can e-mail to you. He says this would be a lot more fun and probably around the same expense if you can spare the time.

He would be a great source of information for the area regardless.

Thanks Anne,
I'll call them in the morning.

I figured that was your boat on the hard. I might also toy with calling some of the forsale boats in there, and leave BH in Florida. If you are walking the docks before next weekend, jot a couple of numbers down.

Well, I was dismissed pretty quickly by Jeff. Must be some heck of a waiting list. He suggested I buy one of the boats in a slip to get the slip. Sounds like California. If your board member contact wants to help out, I'm in.

Of course, if it doesn't quit snowing, and water rising, it may not matter this year. I think I just heard the WX weather guy with the bad swedish accent say 16.1 feet and everything is covered at Ditto now...
I do love the woman who says "cloudy". She means it!

Took another trip around the lake last weekend with the Admiral. We stopped at Ditto first, to get that out of the way. Well, the North Alabama Boaters Association was setting up for their chili cook-off in the pavillion. Didn't take 5 minutes for us to start making friends. We left for G'ville promising to be back in time for the band and judging. After visiting Alred, and Goose Pond, we decided that Ditto would make a great home base (very close), and we would just treat G'ville as a destination. So, I've pulled the trigger on a slip, and will be gathering up Beach House for the move to Huntsville.
Went back to the hoedown, joined N.A.B.A., bought a burgee, ate some awsome chili, made more friends, danced to a great band, and got ready to join the river life. I'm guessing we'll be burning fuel here within 3 weeks.

I'm writing you from the boat as she sits comfortably in her berth. I am thoroughly happy with the decision to take residence at Ditto Landing. Great people, and 5 minutes from the house (which is 5 minutes from work). I have nearly recreated my Florida lifestyle.
Now, I need a good canvas guy to replace my bimini, and cockpit covers. Any names you can pass along?
