Ditching cable for streaming service?

Just an update on the Verizon Ultra 5g home internet. Completely satisfied with the service. I have checked speeds off and on. The range from 500's mbps up to 1.2 gbps.
I'm still using YouTube TV for my main streaming service. I get Hulu, Disney + and ESPN + with the Verizon plan. I did get a powered ota antenna for the great room TV in order to pickup some local channels not on YouTube TV.
Overall, I'm good with everything. I use Verizon to stream on the boat.
@Blueone. I can go to previous channel by using the down feature. It shows the previous channel right there.

How much is direct stream?
I think we are $50/month for YouTube TV running on a fire stick. I really don’t like the menu and really miss a previous channel button
I pay $99/month which gets me 200 channels. The reason I went with that package is they have all of the sports channels, which is worth $30/month to me. I have Firesticks on all of my TVs. Works great.

Loving DirectTV Stream here...we dropped down to the base $69.99 package as it suits are needs with NetFlix and Prime...

Can you get Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Law&Order? If not, I ain’t interested.
You can get that stuff free on PLEX with a smart tv.
I'm looking for local news which is 80 miles away. Not sure an antenna will do that, I can't go crazy high with all the wind here.

DirecTV Stream has worked great so far. Now for my cable companies...at home I have Charter, I had 100 mbs internet. When I dropped TV they mandated that I had to pay for 300 mps to keep just internet. Problem is, I have not seen a download speed greater than 105 mps. Called and had a tech come out and he was stumped. He tried blaming our Wifi, but I showed him the speed between my phone and router was over 1 Gps. Now I have to take my Charter provided modem back and exchange it.

At the lake I have Suddenlink. We had 100 Mps which was fine until we started streaming because data was limited to 2 G per month. So we upgraded to 400 Mps which has unlimited data. I haven't seen a download speed faster than 100 Mps. I haven't had time to get them out. We bought the modem and the router and both are rated at 1.5 Gps.

I don't know when fiber will make to my neighborhood, but I should have access to it at the lake next year. I can't wait. The cable companies are thieves.

They definitely make Jesse James look like a choir boy.
I'll bet the speed differential is them throttling your feed.

I just bought a rural property. Fiber is on its way but there is no ETA, even though they just ran lines at the road - could be 6+ months.

The previous owners had HughesNet and Dish Network. Hughes advertised 25mpbs, best I saw was 3. Every time I called in they claimed it was 25 between the modem and dish (which I could care less about).

Surprisingly even at 3mpbs we could use DirecTV Stream. Hughes was just canceled (within my 30 day trial window) and now we're on Starlink. Slowest I've seen is 17mbps.... fastest is over 150! We should be good from here on out.... just waiting on my 150' cable to arrive.

Both Hughes and Dish satellites were facing south and Starlink is facing north. Not the easiest thing to find a good spot to place Dishy as we're in a forest!

It's been a year since your post, the decision to ditch cable for streaming services remains a relevant and popular topic. Many people are making the switch to enjoy more flexibility and potentially save on costs.

Considering the new Verizon Ultra 5G home internet service was available at your address, it must have been an exciting prospect. This service, combined with Roku sticks for streaming channels, offers a versatile way to access content.

If you're interested in setting up an app for Roku, there's a helpful guide available at iptv app for roku. Your decision ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences, but it's wonderful to have so many choices for customizing your entertainment experience.

You don't save much, if anything it's more expensive when you get all of the apps that you have to sub to, to watch a show. I guess some apps you would has to sub to anyway, especially if you only have network tv. I will say this, using Prime tv and downloading all of the free content can build a substantial library pretty quickly to use with Plex or Emby server. I keep a Plex server running in the house and on the boat all of the time. Not sure which gets used more YouTube Tv or Plex.

This week's Spectrum / ESPN sh*t show in the middle of the USOpen and college football has finally pushed me to leave. Got a 21day trial of YouTube TV - so far it works great and gives us everything Spectrum did for about 1/2 the cost - plus our daughter who lives in a different city can be part of our "family" and also use it. My only regret is we did not do it sooner - Spectrum seems to continually raise prices and trying to negotiate with them is futile. Don't know how the cable providers are going to stay in the game at this rate.
As I write this, Google Fiber is being installed in our neighborhood, so Spectrum internet is the next to go!

The Tennis Channel is pretty much the only thing keeping me with Xfinity. I watch very little TV, less streaming, and I can't tell you the last time I watched a movie.
