The boat I bought (2008 280DA) came with a few accessories including SIMRAD NSS7 as well as Fusion audio system.
My basic understanding is all the information is carried thru NMEA network and each node should be able to pick up the data and display accordingly.
So the question is what do I need to do to make sure all these devices are sharing information? At least I want to be able to see the same Smartcraft data on my MFD.
Is this a matter of simply connecting each unit to the NMEA network? or do they all not speak the same protocol?
Thanks in advance.

I wonder if I posted this in the wrong forum.

Searaypuget - Thanks for finding that. I just bought a Raymarine A127 and wanted to connect it to my engine telemetry. I am mechanically inclined but not so much electronically inclined. Is the Mercury gateway something a novice can install and make work?

It should be pretty straight forward. It doesn't really require much of EE knowledge.

Here's a thread you might want to review: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/81806-Who-Has-Added-Smartcraft-to-their-Engines

I've been slowly working through exactly what you're doing now, interrupted by cash flow (ha ha) and other priorities. But I've got all the pieces assembled and have even fished the NMEA 2k cable from my bilge to the helm. All I have left to do is connect the NMEA power tap into a switched power source (you MUST do this) and plug everything in. Oh, and I'll be displaying it all on a Simrad, too.

What do you find so difficult in just watching the analog gauges?
Unless you incorporate the info into a HUD you still have to take your eyes off the water to look at the display?
